Position Overview
As an Accounting Manager at Melton Design Build, you will play a vital role in managing and overseeing the financial activities of the company. You will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting regulations, and effective internal controls. This position requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles specific to the construction industry.
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Coordinate the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
- Develop financial forecasts and variance analysis to support business planning.
- Monitor actual performance against budget and forecast, identifying, and addressing variances.
Cash Management:
- Manage cash flow by monitoring receivables, payables, and liquidity needs.
- Optimize cash flow through effective cash management techniques.
- Maintain banking relationships and oversee banking transactions.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, industry regulations, and tax laws.
- Oversee internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets.
- Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors, as necessary.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and training as needed.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the accounting team.
- Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments to achieve common goals.
Project Accounting:
- Manage project accounting processes, including job costing, revenue recognition, and project profitability analysis.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate and timely project financial reporting.
- Provide insights into project financial performance and recommend corrective actions, as necessary.
- Technology and Systems:
- Oversee the implementation and optimization of accounting software and systems.
- Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in accounting technology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations, particularly in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven leadership abilities, with experience managing and developing a team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing and sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at times.

Position Pay Information:
Full-Time (Non-Exempt)
$85,000 – $110,000
