Kitchen & Bath Refresh
After retiring, these homeowners moved from the East Coast to Colorado to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Their new home gave them the location they wanted, but its kitchen and primary bath did not yet reflect their style or the way they planned to live.
The remodel brought more light, warmth, and personality to both spaces while tailoring each layout to their daily routines. A reworked kitchen creates room to cook, gather, and welcome family, while the primary bath pairs a more thoughtful arrangement with expressive materials and practical storage.
Room to Gather
The kitchen was redesigned around a generous island that supports cooking, casual meals, and time together without crowding the work zone. Expanded cabinetry gives everything a place, while soft white uppers brighten the room and warm-stained white oak grounds the island and lower cabinets. Dark perimeter counters provide contrast, and the quartzite island brings movement to the center of the space.
A Bath Rebalanced
Removing the built-in linen closet created room for a layout better suited to the homeowners’ routines. A new pocket door improves the transition from the bedroom, while the double vanity adds a dedicated seated area and tailored storage. Across the room, a freestanding tub, glass-enclosed shower, open shelving, and radiant floor heat balance everyday comfort with a calm, open feel.
Pattern With Personality
The bath’s marble mosaic floor gives the room its most personal expression. Each elongated piece carries its own color and movement, creating a playful pattern that extends beneath the tub, vanity, and shower. Large white wall tile keeps the surrounding surfaces quiet, allowing the floor to remain the defining feature.
Warm white oak cabinetry connects the bath to the kitchen, while champagne bronze fixtures and alabaster sconces introduce a softer glow. The combination feels collected rather than overly coordinated, bringing together clean lines, natural materials, and unexpected details.
With spaces shaped around their routines and filled with details they chose, the house now carries a clearer sense of who they are. It feels ready for this next chapter and the family time that brought them to Colorado.
