Karl Whittenbarger joined the Melton team with over 21 years in the real estate industry as a Realtor in Chicago and in the Boulder County area of Colorado.
Karl graduated from Eastern Illinois University in Charleson, IL with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. He got his start in real estate in 2001 working for Chicago’s largest independent real estate brokerage firm, @properties Christie’s International Real Estate. As a Realtor, Karl worked with developers, architects, and designers to finalize designs for new construction condos before completing the back-end unit sales. After 12 years navigating Chicago’s real estate market, he moved with his family to Colorado and joined Colorado Landmark Realtors, now Slifer, Smith, and Frampton. Karl spent nine years with this group in Boulder County while also completing his Construction Management Certification program from CSU.
Karl’s vast experience in the real estate industry, specifically his intimate knowledge of Boulder County real estate, is a tremendous asset to the Melton Project Development team. Karl is an incredibly hard-working teammate, and he demonstrates immense empathy and understanding with his clients.
In his free time, Karl enjoys spending time with his two sons, hiking, biking, skiing, and all things mid-century modern. Karl also volunteers regularly with There With Care, an amazing charity assisting families and children facing critical illness.
What draws you to the remodel/design-build industry?
“My mother was a draftsperson and designed a few homes we lived in over the years. She involved my brother and I as kids and I think that planted the seed. As a Realtor, I’ve always enjoyed working with developers and the construction environment in general.”
