Richard, a Colorado native with over 20 years of experience in architecture and construction, brings his passion for creative design to the Melton Design Build team. Earning his Master of Architecture from the University of Colorado Denver, he is actively pursuing his NCARB Certified Architect license for Colorado and Hawaii. His work has been recognized with the prestigious AIAS Outstanding Freedom by Design Project Honor Award in 2023.
Prior to joining Melton, Richard honed his skills as the owner of a design-build business for 12 years while holding a Class B General Contractor license with the City of Boulder. This experience gives him a deep understanding of all project phases, from initial concept to final execution. He thrives on the unique puzzle of each remodel, expertly balancing client desires, limitations, and innovative solutions.
When he’s not designing exceptional spaces, you’ll find Richard exploring Colorado’s slopes, traveling with his wife Tessa (his high-school sweetheart!), or enjoying the outdoors with their Rhodesian Ridgeback.
