Master Bedroom Makeover

The master bedroom is the sanctuary of the home, meant for luxury, relaxation, and comfort. It’s the space you and your spouse retreat to after a long day’s work to settle in and relax for the evening. Because the bedroom is a private area that often guests do not see, it is easy to put off designing it. Here are a few things to consider when constructing your perfect escape.

Décor Ideas. Keep in mind that this space is meant for two, so it should reflect both you and your spouse. Choose a color palette that complements both you and your spouse’s design styles. Oversized art and wall decals are a simple way to add a little spark to the design. Throw pillows are also a fun way to tie together the design elements and colors of the space.

Bedding. You’ll spend 1/3 of your life in bed, so comfort is key! Chose bedding that is silky and inviting, that you can’t wait to crawl into at the end of your day. Coordinate your bedding with the color palette and design style of the room to help create an overall cohesive aesthetic.

Add Seating. Consider the floor plan of the room. If you have extra space or are considering a bedroom remodel to expand your room, extra seating can make the room feel cozy and inviting. An extra armchair or loveseat with a side table and lamp creates a perfect spot for reading. Placing seating in front of a fireplace or television can help establish a focal point of the room.

Add a Fireplace. There’s nothing more cozy than snuggling up near a fireplace in the comfort of your bedroom. Whether you prefer a traditional wood-burning, gas, or electric fireplace, the flames create a relaxing and sensual environment. Having an additional heat source can also help you control the heat of the room.
