The Melton Design-Build Process

Our recipe for successful projects and happy clients.

Our Process

Melton started using the design build process in 2003, and it’s been a proven roadmap to success for both custom homes and remodeling projects. We know from client feedback and project retrospectives that following our process leads to projects completed on time, on budget and clients who are happy with the end result.

The Melton design-build process consists of the following phases:

• Initial Consultation
• Design
• Construction
• Warranty

Our Approach

1.Initial Consultation

We love talking about potential projects! We want to find out why you want to build new or remodel and what you hope to accomplish – a better layout, more space or maybe just a more aesthetically pleasing home. We will also share with you our process for guiding you through a successful remodeling or custom home project. If it feels like we’re a good fit for each other, we’ll move to the next step which includes signing a Conceptual Design Agreement and getting started on design.

2.Design

By using our design-build approach you get the benefit of working with our in-house design team (consisting of both Architects and Interior Designers) to create a beautiful, functional project that fits your budget. Our in-office design center also allows you to touch samples and choose the products that are going to best meet your needs. As you develop your project, it will go through a formal estimating phase to arrive at a fixed-price agreement amount.

3.Construction

With our highly skilled production team, you can be confident that the design you’ve developed will be constructed with accuracy and quality, on-time and on-budget. The Project Managers, Carpenters, and trusted trade partners are dedicated to turning your dream into a reality, while making what can be the most challenging time of a project as smooth as possible. This includes completely handling the permitting process, maintaining a clean and safe job site, and consistent communication.

4.Warranty

Your home should be a place you’re proud of for years to come. Our proactive two-year warranty program ensures you’re happy with all the details of your project, the post project quality is meeting our high standards, and you’re enjoying living in your new space. We’ll schedule three separate visits with you throughout those two-years. During these visits a Home Care & Repair Team Member will visit your home and address any post-construction issues that may arise (ex: Paint touch-ups, caulk & grout touch-ups, testing smoke alarms, etc.). And of course, if anything comes up outside of those visits, we’re only a phone call away.
